Rep. Candice Pierucci is once again reviving her bill to require elected officeholders to disclose if they take trips paid for by foreign governments.
In 2022, Senate President Stuart Adams and former Attorney General Sean Reyes traveled to the World Cup in Qatar, with travel and lodging for the event paid for by the Qatari government. While the trips weren’t illegal, but they were not required to disclose the travel under current Utah law.
This marks Pierucci's third attempt at passing such legislation. Her previous bills in 2023 and 2024 stalled in the House Rules Committee, never receiving a committee hearing.
The third time might be the charm.
