President Donald Trump lashed out at Utah Third District Judge Dianna Gibson on Wednesday after she ordered the Republican-controlled legislature to redraw the state's congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump raged about the ruling, calling it "unconstitutional." He also accused Gibson of political bias.

"How did such a wonderful Republican State like Utah, which I won in every Election, end up with so many Radical Left Judges? All Citizens of Utah should be outraged at their activist Judiciary, which wants to take away our Congressional advantage, and will do everything possible to do so," Trump said.

"This incredible State sent four great Republicans to Congress, and we want to keep it that way. The Utah GOP has to STAY UNITED, and make sure their four terrific Republican Congressmen stay right where they are!"

Trump recently demanded that Texas redraw its congressional maps to favor Republicans in next year's midterm elections.

On Monday, Gibson ruled that the legislature violated the Utah Constitution when it repealed Prop. 4, a citizen-led ballot initiative that took responsibility for drawing political maps away from lawmakers and gave it to a seven-member independent commission that had to follow strict rules on how maps could be drawn. It also banned partisan gerrymandering in Utah.

Gibson ordered lawmakers to come up with new maps that conform to the rules established by Prop. 4. If they miss the deadline for drawing new maps or submit maps that don't follow the Prop. 4 guidelines, then the court takes over the process. In that case, the plaintiffs or outside groups can submit map proposals. The court will then choose one that will be in place for the 2026 midterms.
